Core Platform Outage

Incident Report for Roadie

Postmortem

Core Platform Outage Summary – September 1st, 2026

On 9/1 at approximately 1:15 PM ET, Roadie deployed a database change that affected a dependency which was expected to have no active production workload. The root cause was an unexpected access pattern that continued to use the database dependency, which resulted in excessive database CPU and latency.

The database update was tested in our performance testing environment prior to deployment, however, the traffic profile did not reproduce the specific production access pattern that triggered the issue. The team identified the cause of the outage, rolled back the database change, and restored system stability at approximately 2:10 PM ET.

Corrective Actions

Roadie is taking several actions as a result of this incident:

  • Expanding the dependency and usage validation process for database and infrastructure changes to identify both direct and indirect production consumers before deployment.
  • Expanding performance testing to better represent production database access patterns and workloads.
  • Reviewing database monitoring and deployment guardrails to improve early detection of unexpected resource utilization following infrastructure and database changes.
